How the TYFCB Score is Calculated
Overview
The TYFCB (Thank You For Closed Business) score measures the value of closed business generated through BNI referrals relative to the current cost of membership. The forumula uses the current price of an annual renewal, so this may be different than the amount paid by the member, especially if they had a multi-year membership and prices have changed over that period of time.
The calculation compares a member's reported TYFCB amount against the current annual membership fee to determine a score between 0 and 5.
How the Calculation Works
- Add together the member's reported TYFCB amount.
- Divide the TYFCB total by the current annual membership fee.
- Compare the resulting value against the scoring chart below.
Formula
TYFCB Ratio = TYFCB Amount ÷ Current Annual Membership Fee
Scoring Chart
| TYFCB Ratio (TYFCB from PALMS \ 1 Year Annual Membership Fee) | Score |
|---|---|
| 30 or Greater | 5 |
| 15 to less than 30 | 4 |
| 5 to less than 15 | 3 |
| 2 to less than 5 | 2 |
| Greater than 0 to less than 2 | 1 |
| 0 | 0 |
Real Life Example
Here is the view of the Member Traffic Lights for a Chapter that we want to verify the TYFCB calculation.
Verify the Calculation
Current Pricing for a 12 month membership in this region is $1,133
- In a new spreadsheet, we will create a column and take the TYFCB for each row and divide it by 1,133 to get a ratio
- We will add another column and double check the ratio against the metric that it falls into
- We will then check to see that the score patches the metric
Note that you can also verify the TYFCB in the Member Traffic Lights against the PALMS report. To do this:
- Log into BNI Connect
- Navigate to Reports > Chapter
- Click on Summary PALMS Report
- For the date range, if you are looking at the current month's member traffic lights, the default selection is correct - it is the previous 6 months.
- View or export this report and compare the TYFCB columns of both reports.
Hope this helps!
