TYFTB to be notified
Increasingly a common complaint in BNI is passing referrals and knowing that work has been done but no way of knowing that a TYFTB was lodged.
Now, I understand disclosing the amount is a legal problem, but surely being notified on the app that person A has just thanked you for business would be enough -- I do not need to know the amount but at least I know I have been thanked.
The old paper system obviously the giver was not identified but with the app they are to BNI HQ and therefore a little computer giggy business could just notify the giver of the referral that the business was complete.
As an app you are already tracking what we earn so those figures are collected and allocated to the member so to add a extra thanks to another member would be very helpful, especially for cross-chapter referrals.
I repeat - we do not need to know what they charged or earned from that referral

Jon - great to hear from you! We agree - this would be a great feature, but we are still bound by some legal challenges regarding client privacy and confidentiality. Just KNOWING that a TYFCB was lodged against a client could be a breach in some industries.
That said - the referral tracking system DOES have a way to do this to an extent by sharing the STATUS of a referral

We hope to have at least that in the app someday and will add your suggestion as a vote for this! Hope this helps!

thank you Jeremy for your prompt response.
I am somewhat perplexed as to which "industries" consider being notified that they have been thanked as breach of privacy and confidentiality? As with most problems there is a solution! How about for those odd industries there is a "opt out" tab or better still to completely put BNI at zero risk there is a "opt in" tab?
I wouldnt mind betting that the VAST majority of BNI members would like to be prompted when a fellow member has not just received the referral but has got the job, done the job and invoiced for the job, again we have no business to know what was charged or earned from that transaction, but at least we know that a referral has come to fruition.
Am I being dense regarding the Referral-Tracking-Sheet? I have never notified BNI the progress of any of referrals I have received as to their status from me making the contact, the referral being a dead end, actual business or something for the future -- so I dont see the point of it.
I simply would like to know that today Fred has lodged a thanks for business - that would make me feel very happy.

so....was this a good idea?
Being a MILLION £ + giver of business in my Chapter over 4 years I would like to know that more than one or two of the members are achieving business from me, again I do not wish to know the amounts but it would good to see the spread of wealth.
Lets have the option to notify the referral giver that business was invoiced.
