Why can't you send an invite to a text number?  They have to be in contacts???? Defeats the entire purpose of making it easy.

  @janet - you can do this now  :- )  Instead of using the SMS button directly, use the SHARE and then choose your messaging program.  That will start it as a new blank message with no selection that you can type the number in directly, or choose a recipient from your contacts at that point.
