Ability to find other BNI members not in my chapter

Recently I was in need of a plumber and my chapter does not have one. I went on BNI Connect Mobile and typed in my city, state and type of business professional I was looking for. It was very frustrating. The first thing that came up was every single member of my chapter of which none are plumbers. Then I added keywords “plumber” and my “city“ and then I got plumbers from 200 miles away and other random BNI members which were not plumbers. None in my city. In frustration I asked my Chapter partners on our Facebook Page and got a name and I was still not able to find him. Apparently he goes by Benjamin on BNICM and not Ben which is the name that was given to me. The last name was correct. The city was correct. Why the system was not able to match up the last name & city is what was really surprising and frustrating. There has to be a way to get a partial match or at least get local professionals without names and just keywords. Thank you for all the recent improvements & hopefully this feature can be added to improve on a already great app!

    Yes, and it would be great to have the option of looking in the local region rather than the city. We have many cities very close together.

    I hope the situation is getting sorted out. I also needed a plumber in an emergency and could not find one. I had to go to our state webpage and ask for a list of chapters and go through them individually. By the time I found one close to the job my husband had found one outside of BNI.

    @everyone - the work has started to redesign search. The first version is out now for the WEB VERSION using the magnifying glass.  This will continue to be refined and rolled out to other countries, then eventually the regional websites and mobile.  Thanks for your patience!

    Update 10/1/2025 Searched "electrician atlanta georgia". Returned 1 plumber. 0 electricians multitude of Finance and Insurance, Legal and Accounting, 

    Isn't there a way to use AI to make this happen? They have been working on this for 5 years based on post from 2020. How hard is this?
