2 on my icon

I got a "2" on my app's icon, just like I would have if I had 2 texts or 2 emails. When I open the app, it looks the same. What does the "2" mean? 2 what? And where are they?

  @george - the 2 on the icon is Android counting the number of notifications you have in that particular app.  My guess is that BNI Connect had perhaps had a few new actions for you.  Note that only referrals come via email, the rest are in app only notices.
