Can you please review the 4th video in this series and share it with your members:
Help! Someone is spamming me in BNI Connect!

Here is an "offline" copy of the video if you cannot access it through BNI U:

This unsolicited message is the result of a person clicking on the SEND MESSAGE link (http://screencast.com/t/PejOzkBTDR8B ) on the member's public profile that is part of the national, regional and chapter websites. Kindly note that BNI Connect has put measures into place to be sure that this is a real human reaching out to the member and not a spam-bot or other automated function. For example, although this goes to the member's email address, that is NEVER shared with the sender - rather they are filling out a form on the website and sending it that way, with a CAPTCHA code to make sure they can't script the message.

The ability to receive these kinds of messages is an OPTIONAL part of the BNI Connect profile that every member has the ability to turn off should they wish to do so. The option to turn this off is located on the CONTACT DETAILS tab of the BNI Connect profile - to the right of the email address is a check box labeled "send email through website". Once unchecked, the "send message" link disappears on all public pages for that member. In addition, should they wish to be excluded from the public website completely, they can do so with the very top option on that page for "Show me on BNI Public Websites" which, when unchecked, will remove them from the national, regional and chapter pages. Here is a guide to updating the profile, including these changes: http://support.bniconnect.com/hc/en-us/articles/219066397-Completing-Your-Member-Profile
