Ability to Allow and Filter Incoming Referral Requests to be Specific!
Hi,
I would like to strongly suggest that for the BNI Connect App that we are able to have the ability to filter what sort of incoming requests we get and to be far more specific on who we want to connect rather than have the whole world bombard us with requests that we may not need.
For example, I keep getting spam-like incoming requests from India from outsourcing companies that we do not ever need and it presents a very uncomfortable situation that is the opposite of what one should be experiencing in BNI.
BNI should not ever allow anyone to spam anyone under any circumstances and has best practices on how one should approach making a request. It appears that the memo is lost upon the members and disregarded.
Therefore, if there is a way we can finally have that ability from where we want the incoming connect requests to come from to be specific such as filtering ability, that would be greatly welcomed!

Hi Muuni,
Totally agree with you in this. I myself is receiving tons of "unsolicited" emails, especially India. That being said, BNI Connect do not have any control over this since your email address is shown to BNI members when they do search. On the other hand, as a member, we want to be able to get connected and do business.
So, if you really do not want them to email you, you can change the behavior of how your email is displayed in your profile. Just switch Show My Email to My Connections or None.

Hope this helps!

@allan - That is a great suggestion, however, it does not prevent "Connection Requests" from being able to be sent :- )

Sharing my experience here, in case other people stumble upon this conversation thread.
When I first joined BNI, I had my phone number and LinkedIn profile up in the directory (searchable from the public internet). I received LinkedIn connection requests and WhatsApp messages from people that "implied" they were BNI members too. Only later, after searching their names on BNI Connect, I found out they are not members. I'm pretty sure they scrape the BNI public directory to spam members with their business.
