5 questions to answer -- in BNI Connect, please!
A recent blog post by Dr. Misner suggested asking your referral partner 5 questions about the potential client they sent you, in order to establish for the client that you know the same person the client knows, which begins to build trust. I think it would be helpful if the comments box in BNI Connect Submit Referral Slips could handle more than 250 letters/spaces. Even better would be 5 boxes PLUS a comments:
1. How do you know them? **My neighbor next door
2. How long have you known them? **two years
3. What is the situation that they need help with? ** Sell home
4. How did it come about? ** New job out of state
5. Are they expecting my call? **[This one is especially important because in my experience, only a few Members ALWAYS ask Mr/Ms Potentially A. Client if their (Member Smith, the Client's neighbor) referral partner (Member Jones, a Realtor) can call the client. I know the BNI drill, but I don't like asking M/M Client if my referral partner can call them ... it sounds too much like a Good Old Boys Network especially if I don't know the Clients well -- like, they're someone who calls ME for handyman work that we're not able to do (ie high-level plumbing/electrical) and I want to refer them to my BNI Goodwrench and Sparky.] Instead of Member Jones calling/texting/emailing Member Smith to find out the answer to these 5 questions, why not make it possible to Smith to answer them in the app? Not only will it save time, but it will also almost inevitably get the questions answered, even if the member who received the referral doesn't ask.
