Mandatory phone number

Please could you remove a phone number being mandatory as in this digital age not all referrals are given with a phone number. I use social media to get a lot of my referrals and it may be someone I have connected either online to the person directly via their social media profiles or connected via email but I may not have their phone number so I can't pass a referral via bni connect as I don't have their phone number and this inhibits my ability to use the apps

  @clare - @allan has a great point about the personal touch.  This is currently in line with official BNI policy though you are correct - in the digital age, times and contact methods are changing.  We will definitely take this into discussion, though it may need to be brought for discussion with a larger group such as the International Board of Advisors, which is made up of representative MEMBERS from around the world.  Once the policy is considered and possibly changed we can certainly look at the electronic portion being in alignment.  Hope this helps!

  Hi Claire,

  Phone number is mandatory although we are in digital age. A personal touch is always better than words in an email. I would like to hear someone talking to me rather than typed words or even recorded voice. Robot doesn't connect people. People do. That's what makes BNI special - referral with a human touch.

  If you do not have their phone numbers, put in yours and inform your referral partner that they will need to communicate by using other means.
